O verbo "haver" (There be)

THERE IS E THERE ARE

Em inglês, não se diz "ter" no sentido de "existir", diz-se "há", "havia", com o verbo THERE BE. Esse verbo possui duas conjugações:
    There is
    There are

Exemplos:

There's a book on the table
There are ten students in my class
There are five people in my family

Fazendo perguntas:

Is there a sofa in your house? -- Yes, there is / No, there isn't
Are there ten people in your classroom? -- Yes, there are / No, there aren't

Negativas:

There is not (ou "There isn't")
There are not (ou "There aren't")

There was = Havia e there were = Haviam. Exemplos:

There was a book on the table
    There was a boy outside
    There was a baby crying
There were two books on the table
    There were three boys outside
    There were five babies crying
There were two guys waiting for you
    There wasn’t a pen here
There weren’t ten apples in the basket
    Was there a pen here?
Were there ten apples in the basket?

Há também o "There will be", que pode ser traduzido como "haverá". Exemplo:
Tomorrow there will be more food
